About EquiWatch

EquiWatch was developed by horse owners for horse owners. As horse people, we know how the paperwork can pile up - bills, registrations, applications, Coggins tests, medical records, deworming records, breeding dates, etc. EquiWatch was designed to organize your horse records quickly and efficiently!

Who we are and what we do

EquiWatch founders Joyce Dougherty, Tom Dougherty and Bruce Brownson share in the business and operations decision-making for the company. The company also employs several assistant developers and alpha testers on a regular basis as contractors, and enlists the services of volunteer beta testers at appropriate times.

In addition to her responsibilities as Administrative Director, Joyce Dougherty works at a large training and boarding farm in Davidsonville, Maryland; is the Youth Advisor to the Southern Maryland Youth Quarter Horse Association; sits on the boards of the Southern Maryland Quarter Horse Association and Maryland State Amateur Quarter Horse Association; and shows her 8-year-old Quarter Horse gelding in the Amateur All-Around Division in Quarter Horse breed shows throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia and the Carolinas. She is a lifelong horsewoman who owned her first horse at an early age and has competed in many disciplines including dressage, hunter/jumpers, 4-H, open shows and breed shows.

Joyce and her husband Tom currently own and care for numerous registered Quarter Horses. They and their three children actively compete in Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Trail and Halter classes in AQHA shows.

Technology Director Tom Dougherty is a self-employed Information Technology consultant for several large business clients. His past business experience includes more than a decade in investment banking with a specialization in real estate and municipal bond syndication, the brokerage of large motor yachts and sport fishing boats, and the manufacturing of specialty hobby tools. Tom has more than 20 years of software development experience focusing on database management systems, and more than 7 years of high-end web application development experience.

Tom is an active member of the American Quarter Horse Association and is a director for the Southern Maryland Quarter Horse Assoiation. He participates regularly in team roping as a member of the United States Team Roping Championship and the Mid Eastern Team Roping Association. While his primary passion is team roping, Tom is actively involved in showing Quarter Horses in breed association shows.

Marketing Director Bruce Brownson is Founder and CEO of KnowWho, Inc (www.knowwho.com) - an Alexandria, Virginia-based multimedia publisher of professional and government directory information on the Internet. KnowWho serves both the business-to-business (B2B) and the business-to-government (B2G) marketplaces. Previously, Bruce was the president and publisher of Congressional Staff Directories Ltd., a family-owned directory publishing business he successfully positioned for acquisition by Congressional Quarterly, Inc.

Bruce owns Crystal Valley Ranch in Romney, West Virginia (www.crystalvalleyranch.com), where he oversees everything from a 48-stall boarding operation and Quarter Horse breeding program, to summer camps and a therapeutic riding program for Crystal Valley Ranch's "Challenged Champions." His love of horses stems from his childhood spent on a small farm in Leesburg, Virginia, and was rekindled by his children's interest in riding and showing Quarter Horses.

As horse people, we have a rather simple philosophy - we'd rather spend time riding or working with our horses than we would sitting at a desk or the kitchen table, organizing information.
